Just purchased a 88 Johnson 140 V4. Can someone tell me the correct fuel/oil mixture. Since it will be a few months before I get it on the water, is there anything I need to do to "winterize" the fuel system?

Oil ratio should be 50:1. To winterize the fuel system, I would add Stabil fuel stabilizer to a fresh tank of fuel, run the motor to get the treated fuel into the carbs and shut it off. Or you can run the carbs dry by disconnecting the fuel line to the tank and run the motor till it shuts down. I would still treat the fuel tank though with the Stabil though.

Does it have the VRO / OMS system still hooked up ?? If so then it is mixing (or should be) the oil with the gas. If it is disconnected then the ratio is 50 parts gas to 1 part TCW-3 rated 2 stroke oil.
Ideally the gas tank should be treated with fuel stabiliser and the motor run long enough to get the mixture through your fuel system.

You should fog the engine before storage. Also grease and withdraw the PT&T rams and the steering ram. Before running the engine, drain and flush the carburetor float bowls.

Lubricate according to the service manual or owner's manual and print the BRP Evinrude maintenance chart so that you can keep it with your paperwork. http://www.evinrude.com/NR/rdonlyre...55-6BC1C69789FB/0/em_maintenance_schedule.pdf

Store the motor in the running position, not tilted.

Thanks everyone. The automatice oiler has been disconnected, so I will be manually mixing the fuel. Especially appreaciate the link to he maintenance chart. Since this boat has been through several hands, the manual was not available.
