My son is looking at a 1988 Lund boat that has an 88 150 on it. Is there anything specific I should be looking for that may be problematic with this motor? I am familiar with 1970’s three cylinder engines but know nothing about the newer 150 stuff.
Thanks
Shawn

A compression test must be done before handing over any coins.----These motors are nearly " world famous " for breaking piston rings.

Ok thanks for the information I’ll make sure it’s tested before we start dealing on it. I thought it was pricey for 1988 until I was reading list of what came with boat 9.8 Tohatsu 4stroke 1998 model 50# trolling motor 2 fish finders 2 electric down riggers 3 batteries complete enclosure Bimini top and cover.
Would this boat take pre mix or oil injection?

If the oil injection is still hooked up no need to pre mix. If it has been disconnected then you need to pre mix. If the Vro is still hooked up and original it should be disconnected.

Was reading the discrimination of the boat and I don’t believe that I could have missed it the first time but it says “rebuilt about six years ago” now that makes me a little nervous.

Why?? Take it out and see how it runs. Don't forget the compression test.
