Tried to pull my lower unit to r/r water pump but, can not get shift rod to release from linkage under power head. I removed the hair pin clip but still no joy. Is there another bolt or pin I've missed?
Hi Olman,<br />Keep the lower unit bolts in to relive the pressure on the shift rod,then pull the hair pin clip,and push in on shift linkage. this should remove the pin from the shift rod.
Thanks, Almost Retired Again,<br /> Tightened the bolts, shot the rod with WD-40 and then pulled the pin. She popped right out! Those fix it yourself books don't give you the tricks of the trade from experience. Thanks again.
