Welcome to the forums, you are at the right place.

First off, Buy a manual, they are worth there wieght in gold.

At the top of this page you will see a search feature, just type in the words "Gear oil", and Im sure you will get plenty of reading time.

Other than thet, Its very simple, Put the engine straight up and down, place a drain pan under the outdrive, ( Big enough to hold a couple quarts), Pull both plugs, one on the side up about 18" and one on the bottom of the main hub, (Down low). Use a screw driver that fits the screw or you will mess up the slot. I like to drain overnight, as it drains slowly. Buy what ever oil you want to use, it comes in tubes, buy two. I recommend a synthetic. You fill from the bottom untill it comes out the top hole. Hold the tube in the bottom while you put in the top plug, (Use new gaskets every time). Helps to have a helper but not necesary. The quickly remove the tube and replace the lower plug. It doesnt matter if some leaks out, my manual actually says to allow an once or so to drain to allow for expantion. Wear rubber gloves, this oil really stinks and is hard to remove from you hands.
