Replaced points, cap, rotor, plugs, fuel pump, all fuel lines, h2o separator, fuel filter, new carb & siphon valve. Checked compression, timing - (is advancing), dwell & all to spec! Can the problem be a faulty shift assist module and/or linkage micro switch? Can anyone identify the problem? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe

Are you sure that the tach is correct? Can you hook up a portable one to be sure. ESA module could be stuck on, you can test it while in neutral and idling just energize the switch with the arm that sits in the v shape notch, engine should stumble and then return to normal when you let go, when you shift into gear the switch may move but then it should return to the bottom of the v shape notch at the end of the shift, there is another switch called the overstroke which is really there to disable the ESA so it can't energize while in gear. You would have to have 2 problems to cause the ESA to stay on however it's good to check it out and eliminate it.

KICKS,<br />what's your speed at 2500rpms? check to see that the tach is set for the proper number of cylinders for your engine. it you have an eight...and the tach is set for a 6 cyl...you'll get low rpm.
