1988 omc 4.3l

Hello, I just bought a 1988 Sunbird with a OMC 4.3 Cobra in it. It has this Model and Serial listed on the air cleaner and on a tag on the out drive. Model # 985269 Serial # T0561582. These numbers get me nowhere when looking for parts or info on it. Are there different numbers somewhere? Thank You in advance for your help.

Welcome aboard!

There should be an alphanumeric number on the top of the engine someplace (valve cover, intake manifold etc) that looks like the following.
If your engine/drive is an 88 model:
432AMLGDP 1988
432APRGDE 1988
432APRGDP 1988
434AMLGDP 1988
434APRGDP 1988

Or if it's an 87 (and it could be)


432AMARY 1987
432AMFTC 1987
432APARY 1987
432APFTC 1987
432APSRC 1987
432APSRY 1987
434AMARY 1987

Thank you. I did some more looking and found the numbers on a label stuck to what looks like a thermostat housing.
It is a 432APRGDP.

the 2 in 432 means 2bbl carb, the P in APR means power steering. The last three letters signify certain changes to parts #s and minor variations.

It's the same as mine except you have a 2 bbl carb and I have a 4bbl.
