New to this forum and new to boating. I'm a fixed income 72-year old who underwent back surgery last year and needed a project that would get me doing something physical. I've watched maybe 100 hours of YouTube videos. I bought this project boat last month from an estate sale for $400. The deck and likely the stringers and transom will need replacing. The engine is reported to run and the trailer held together as I pulled it 130 miles from St. Petersburg to Fort Myers.. Thanks to google maps for finding me a route that avoided highways. This project is intended as a form of physical therapy with a secondary benefit of having a saltwater fishing boat in the end. Where do I start? I'm thinking of doing (removing oxidation and polishing) the outside first as that might be less physically taxing than jumping right into the deck work which I hope to be able to do as my strength returns.

Welcome. I would start by confirming the motor runs. Next do core samples of the transom deck and stringers to confirm if rot is present. So you can determine the cost and time that will be involved
