1988 Sea Ray Mercury 100 HP - Won't start

The last time I used the boat was 2 years ago. I did not add fuel stablizer to the gas tank before I stored it.<br /><br /> This year (2003), I am trying to activate the boat but it does run. What I have done so far is<br /><br /> 1) Pump as much old gas out of the tank as I can.<br /> 2) replace NGK spark plugs (4)<br /> 3) Checked to insure ignition fuse is ok.<br /> 4) Changed drive gear oil.<br /> <br />PROBLEM:<br /> Check spark plug when cranking the engine - there is no spark<br /><br />Questions:<br /> 1) what spark plug type do I need ? Does a wrong spark plug result in no spark?<br /> 2) Does any one has an engine lay out for 1988 Sea Ray Merc 100 hp (picture) - my engine might be missing some part? Just want to double check.<br /> 3) Any ideas how to check/restore the spark?<br /><br />PLEASE HELP ! Thanks

Check to see if the lanyard switch is hooked up near the control box.<br /><br />If it is then you either hooked the battery up backwards or you have an electronic component that has failed.<br /><br />Either the stator or the powerpack.<br /><br />TMD
