I have an 88 Sea Ray with the 100hp Merc outboard(Sea Ray white) It has loss of compression in the #2 cylinder. It has the hydrulic steering that came with the Sea Ray boats of that year. Can I attach this steering to other engines? I am trying to decide whether I should sleeve and fix the 2 cylinder or buy another outboard?

I think it would work, most outboards have the same tilt tube setup. If the unit is Seastar, you can buy bits and pieces for different engine setups.
