Just picked up a nice 1988 Sea Sprite Mark II, 175hp 19ft. What is the fuel capacity in this?

I used to have that same boat but it was a 1996 with a Mercuiser. As I remember it was a 50 gal. tank.

Re: 1988 Sea Sprite fuel capacity.

I just picked up a 1988 Sea Sprite. I cant find any information on it. I know it has a 4.3 merc/chevy on it. Other than that I am lost on it. Can someone tell me more about it. The Hull numbers are SSBB7703C888. Its seem to be a nice boat(Better than the Bayliner Capri that is it replacing) Would love to know what the Fuel Cap is, the differance if any with the block and a 4.3auto block(cracked block but came with a 4.3 auto block) Thanks

I don't think it hurts anything here since the original poster only posted once and hasn't been seen in 7 months but generally you would start your own thread for something like this
There is no difference in the bare block except make sure you use brass freeze plugs and make sure the block is drilled for your starter bolts... mercruisers use 153 tooth flywheels and most gm automotive (4.3 and v8) apps of this vintage use 168 tooth flywheels..... the starters bolt on differently for different size flywheels.... That might require one hole be precisely drilled at any machine shop. Also make sure the block is for the same engine and had provision for the fuel pump..... there were a couple different 4.3's The casting numbers can be looked up to tell you what year the block is.... you also want to use stainless head gaskets flat top pistons and a marine friendly camshaft with minimal valve overlap to prevent water surge from reaching the cylinders
as for fuel capacity just drain the tank of all the old gas and fill it up with fresh and presto....... I also like to take note of exactly how many gallons I have at 1/8 1/4 1/2 and 3/4....It's good to know for sure if you have to buy that expensive marina gas of if you can safely make it back to the trailer
