Hello everyone,

I am still in the process of looking for my first boat to purchase.
I have found another boat and I wanted to get a few opinions:

It is a 17' 1988 shoalwater flats boat with a 90hp yamaha that has around 500 hrs on it. They are asking $5000. I have only seen pictures, but it is supposed to be clean with no hull damage.

I am expecting to have to do some work on it and I have friends to help, but I don't want to get in too far over my head

Is this an average price for this year model?

Does anyone know of any inherent problems with this model boat?

Thanks for your help

It's gettin pretty old. For a 17ft boat with a 90hp, that's 17 years old, I'd want to pay quite a bit less even if it was in perfect shape.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm pretty sure the price is negotiable. With the limited amount of info I have given you, what do you think the boat would be worth? It does include the trailer.

Are there any problems in particular to look for on a boat that old?

Go to the web & look for Trader On Line for comparisons.

I would not consider the value of extras in determining the offering price.

I think $5K is way to high.
