Howdy all! I'm new to the forum and recently purchased my first boat.
I started tearing out the carpet to just replace the floor, then that turned into a whole new project.

My intent on this project is to basically modify it to my fishing needs and imply all the ideas I have come up with over the years. What I would like to do is:
1.) Replace the floor and cover it with some sort of roll on bedliner (make it easier to clean)
2.) Move the dash consoles forward in the boat 12 to 15 inches
3.) Raise the bow platform up to the aluminum under the rub rails
4.) Redesign the splashwell to make it shorter and then build a "casting platform" with a livewell and storage boxes in it
5.) Consruct some sort of storage on the side panels for a rod locker on the port side, and storage for oars and other misc. On the starboard side.

I have an unlimited amount of questions.

what I've done so far is gutted the boat completely, and I'm getting ready to replace the transom.

I am wanting to coat the entire inside of the boat (hull?) With rustoleum rubber sealant. And then I will lay down new DOW foam before I re-install the floor.

my first question is, has anyone moved their dash consoles forward in their boat? And how long of a steering cable will I need to get for a 16 ft boat if I move the helmet forward 15 inches?

second is has anyone redesigned their splashwell? And building storage in the stern for a livewell and a battery box, I'm looking for pictures for inspiration.

Third, I was thinking about dealing the plywood with helmsman spar urethane all around, installing in the boat, and then coating with the bedliner type coating, then sealing around the outline of the floor to the aluminum with 5200 good idea or not?

Fourth, side panel storage, I need some input on what materials to use to build a rod locker.

And lastly, the front bow platform. I have mentioned this to a few people and they weren't too taken with the idea to raise it completely up to the aluminum under the rub rails, I know it's a small area already. And moving the consoles up would make it smaller, but I'm not sure it would be used as a fishing area any, besides the few times to stand on it and cast crank baits toward shore every so often.

Everyone I talk to says I have a wild imagination and should just put everything back the way it was. I would really love to hear what you all have to say.

thank you so much in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!
