1988 Wellcraft Nova 23xl

I have a 1988 Wellcraft Nova 23xl with a Bravo one outdrive and a 454 big block that made 540hp at 5500 rpm. Just wondering what prop to get wether 3 or 4 blade and what size and pitch to get thanks. NOt sure if this helps or not but had a 3 blade chopper prop 23 pitch was able to spin the prop at any rpm and boat did 40mph at 5k rpm.

@540 HP, you are probably going to need at least 26p, Bravo One prop, which comes out to running upper 70's. I would not be surprised if a 27P was the best fit, which would put you in the 80's.

(The 23p prop would be suited to a stock 454 in a 23' boat of your type and would run it to about 60).

I was thinking the samething. I did try a 4 blade 29p and the boat did 48 at 3900 rpm. Motor wouldnt turn past the 3900.
