More info is needed to help. Did it run at a higher RPM before? What RPM is it limited at?

Yes i was out running fine at about 4500 rpm then it just cut down to about 2500/3000 rpm . A friend told me the engine may have a safety feature that cuts power when something is wrong also runs a little rougher than normal at idle. Thanks

The safety features are for low oil and overheat. they will reduce the RPM's to 2000 and be accompanied by a buzzer. Check fire to be sure the CDI hasn't dropped a cylinder.

Thanks for the suggestion will give it a shot. If the saftey kicks in for overheat, will a buzzer sound or will it just shut down to 2000 rpm also havent changed the impeller in a couple of years could that be it?

Both should happen. Turn the motor on and ground the pink lead on the temp sensor to test buzzer.
