Hello, I have an 89 125 A, it's on a 20' maxum. Ran it all week on our camping trip with no problems. Acted like it ran out of fuel today, refilled, started fine, then stalled, wouldn't start again! When I pump the bulb it gets hard(fuel comes out of bottom carb bowl) I have spark at all four plugs, fuel pump looks good. Don't know where to go from here? Any help would be great, Thanks much, Tim

Re: 1989 125 force won't start

I had this happen to me not to long ago. My problem was the Idle screw located on the Tower Shaft, backed all the way out.

My engine then would not start. I tried everything, then I saw that it was backed all the way out. On my engine it is a long screw that goes through the Tower, that holds the Timing. It it located in the Middle of the block to the left of the rod that pushes the Carbs when you give it throttle.

I hope that you can understand where I am trying to tell you that it is.

I added some Loctite to mine, once I got it set back correctly.

Thanks,
Bryan

Re: 1989 125 force won't start

Thanks for the reply Bryan. Started just fine tonight with no work done? I suspect fuel pump, primer bulb etc.. Also, ran if for about 30 seconds and water didn't spray out of exhaust relief holes. I had it submerged in a tote bucket with water intake 12" under water? Thought I would do impeller, where to buy, whole kit or just impeller? Thanks all, Tim

Most of the time just the impeller is fine but make sure the housing side and top and bottom is not cracked or gouged to badly... it might be a little rough but not to rough... you should do this once a year...
