Hello,
This is my first post. Hope someone can help.
I have a 1989 125hp Force, M#1258W9B, S#1188. My tilt would not hold up the motor. Went to Merc site to check parts availability. Was able to order check valve "kit" F17620. Received one check valve and snap ring. I thought there should be two? When I attempted to remove the check valve that is visible from the back of the boat, what I found confused me. Out came an aluminun plug. In front of that was a steel piece with an o-ring. These are sperate pieces. I then was able to remove the center piece, shuttle valve. This gave me access to the other check valve, which I removed. This was exactly like the new check valve I ordered, one piece with needle valve and spring inside. Can anyone help me? I thought there should be two of the same valves.
Thanks,
manzi

Re: 1989 125

There is only one expert on these things in the world, and he doesn't post here any longer.

I say try it and see.

Wow, just checked the price on your kit !!
I hope it does the trick for you.

As long as it is all apart, I would replace any o-rings that you can get at.

Roscoe,

Thanks for your reply. I saw an old post that listed the email address of the person you mention above. I sent him an email out of desperation. I just don't understand why one check valve would come in a "kit" when there are supposed to be two. I'm totally confused. Anyone else you know who might know the answer?
Thanks,
manzi
