I never got a beep when starting the boat or nothing which leads me to belive I have no warning horn for my Oil Injection / Temp. Iv'e read were the console is the ideal place for it but I cannot find it there. Is there one on the engine as back-up? If not what do I need to Install one under my console? I have a seloc manual but i know it's generalized. It has a wiring diagram of a XR4 with 40 amp stator and other stuff though. And is there a better way to get a number read out of temp or is the one gauge suffice?

Thx

On the XR4, there is a 2 screw terminal block on the starboard side over the switchboxes. 1 screw has a wire going to the oil alert, and 1 going to the temp switch in the port head. There is a Tan with blue tracer wire from there that goes to pin 3 of the engine harness connector. The other purple wire is switched 12 V to the oil alert module.

That wire should show up at the connector on the front of the controls at pin c, or the tan wire if there's an instrument harness connector connected to it. That wire grounds when either the temp or oil alert alarm is activated. Connect a 12 volt sonalert between that and the purple switched 12 v wire. (pin a)

There are versions of the controls that have a warning buzzer in them. You can't hear it a WOT anyway, so no loss if it isn't there. They all have the alarm coming out the front to the instrument harness.

hope it helps
