I found out that if I disconnect the wire at the ignition module that goes to the external cutoff switch it will start - but then I can't shut it off (unless I reconnect that wire). Switch is not defective (checked with ohm meter).

CDI ignition module was replaced 3 years ago. Engine has been run maybe 30 minutes since (motor is just a backup motor). It started up last year, but refused to start this time.

I replaced the rectifier (some test told me to do that), still no change.

I suppose the ignition module could be defective again, but is there anything else that could duplicate this problem so I can save $130?

Thanks

Thanks. Those are all the first things I checked. I guess the biggest thing that I want to avoid is buying another ignition module (3 years is a verrrry short life span) and find out that isn't the problem
