For several months now my 1989 Evinrude 200 VRO is really difficult starting when cold. I pump the bulb, hold in the key for about 5 seconds then crank and hold. I get absolutely no catch. After a while I have to resort to connecting a starting charger. After several more tries, I get my first ignition but no start. This goes on for about five more times before I get a start.

Now recently, along with the scenario above, the starter solenoid disengages at the first sign of a cylinder ignition, making the process even more difficult

Thanks,
Jim
