1989 200hp Johnson - Model Number ID

Hello,

I want to look up the right parts for my Johnson's Ignition System but the Model number tag on the motor is now unreadable. Is there another spot to get the Model number or properly ID the engine type? There appears to be two different ignition systems for that HP engine and if I buy parts I want to get the right ones.

Thank you,

The systems should be the same except for the power pack number. The difference should only be the rev limiter. If you need a pack just use the number on the bottom of the one you have or use the part number for a 200S model.

Look for a silver disc ... like a freeze plug ... somewhere on the block. Should look something like this:

The model # (and serial number) should be stamped on it.

Thanks,

The only freeze plug item I could see on the block is on the exhaust housing. It only had one number G226007. Maybe there is another in area I can?t see.

I'll check in to the 200s power pack. That?s what I am leaning towards replacing to solve the problem in my other post - 1998 200 HP looses power.
