I have 200hpyam. the oil resevoir does not fill from the bulk tank. I have cleaned the tank, lines, filter, engine resevoir etc.. The bulk pump works fine on the bench, pumps about a quart every 2 minutes (tested 3-4 times). The pump comes on about 30+- sec.(&pumps oil)when key is powered up then shuts off. It does not come back on even when engine is running. The probe when removed from the resevoir will sound the alarm and shut off if lifted off lo trip point. Can someone explain to me what tells pump to kick on and fill resevoir on the engine? Thanks for any help anyone has to offer.

hello
search the yamaha forum. there is a complete guide on how to test the system.
its designed tooperate at key on. that shows all the wiring is good and odds are your engine tank switch is bad or the controller module.

Try the float switch in the oil tank on the motor. This is what was wrong with mine!!
There is really only 4 things to this 5 if you count bad wire some where.
1. is the pump on they bulk tank ( you say it is good)

2. The float switch in the bulk tank, But that really shows the level on you gauge, so if you see it there then it should be fine?

3. the control unit, the one with the emergency switch on it. It has a mer switch in it that goes bad. Not offten but does.

4. the floats in the remote tank.

O yea a cloged filter might cause a restriction, that might not allow the oil to go for long??

The artical above (seahorse) is a good one!! I got it from here a year ago and printed it, just incase it disapears one day!

Good luck

hello
the switch in the engine tank tells the pump when to turn on and off via the control module mounted just below and aft of the engine tank. someplace in the forum is posted a rather long and very descriptive test procedure

I have run in to a number of cases where the wiring harness between the engine and bulk tank caused this problem.
