I have a 1989 mercury 25hp that missing on the # 2 cylinder. When it is running you can see a visible arc from the plug wire to the spark plug. I checked the ground and re-ran the wire and it is still having the problem. Can anyone help me out on this situation please?

Does "re-ran the wire" mean you replaced it? If not, you should. High voltage is leaking from that wire probably due to bad insulation or possibly a bad connection in the sparkplug boot.

I replaced the negative wire leading to the #2 coil and checked the positive wire leading to the voltage regulator. The negative wire had a crack in it and the wire going to the regulator is in great shape. I still have the problem. Anymore help?

Alright, installed a new coil and plug wire, as well as a new spark plug. Still have the arc to the plug from the boot. Think it could be the voltage regulator?
