Afternoon,
Wondering if anyone here would have an idea about what happened and how to fix it...
..a few weeks ago I was out fishing and the engine started right up at the ramp and went into gear with no issues, I had idled for a bit at the ramp getting ready to go out then shifted into gear. After running along for about 5 minutes straigt the boat started to act as if I was slowing down but the throttle was all the way in forward then it let go and nothing. The engine was still on and idling and I could move the shifter forward and reverse but the boat doesn't move. I did not hit anything in the water and didn't hear any noises coming from the enging prior to this. After looking at the motor later there was no visible damage, the trottle moves all of the cabling and an arm inside the motor but prop doesnt spin. I cannot spin the prop by hand outside of the water either, with the throttle in neutral while engine is off. I am a novice with Boat engines but have taken apart car engines and am mechanically inclined.
This wasn't the first time out of the year I had it out already about 10 times up to this without any issue.
