1989 4 hp Evinrude Gas Mixture

Is the mixture 100:1 or 50:1? The book I have that came with the engine says 100:1, but someone told me all 2 strokes are 50:1. Help please<br /><br />Thanks in advance

Bob, I'd run your motor at 50:1. For awhile , OMC used the 100:1 spec. , I guess figuring that most people use the motor for trolling and the extra oil was not that necessary. Less oil ment less plug fouling but can be risky at higher RPM's. To be safe, run it at 50:1.
