1989 70hp Stator missing black/yellow kill wire

I purchased a new stator from a local marine dealer and intalled it on the engine. The engine ran great, but would not shut off. I loked closely at the stator where it pluged into the power pack, and noticed that the stator did not have a black/yellow wire at all. There was an empty place on the plug for it. The part number seems to be right, but I wanted to see if this may be common, and I am missing something, or if the stator is suposed to have that wire.

Thanks!

Mike.... The "black/yellow" kill circuit wire does not lead from the stator. That wire is part of and leads from the engines wiring harness.

Follow the engine's wiring harness from the RED main electrical connector towards the powerpack, you should come across it.

I see the wire from the power pack, and it goes into the plug which was hooked into the stator. Should I look for the wire somewhere else? Maybe the person who put the new stator on, clipped this wire?

Thanks

Mike.... Your mind is locked on that stator for some reason. Forget the stator.

The black/yellow wire is in the engine wiring harness and it is that black/yellow wire that inserts into whatever to connect with the black/yellow wire of the powerpack.

It's very possible that someone cut/clipped that black/yellow wire at the end of the wiring harness but that's where it is. Strip some of the wrapping from the harness and I'm sure you'll spot it.
