The other day I noticed that my battery voltage was not changing when I increased speed.
The meter read 12.5 volts all the time so I replaced the rectifier. Now the voltage at idle reads about 12.8
volts but goes as high as 16 volts when I am running at about 2000 rpm.
Is this value too high?
There is no regulator on this engine.
The battery is brand new.

Congrat's, you fixed it!

Those voltages are normal, as stated above.

Thanks for the reply,Fleetwin.
Will this voltage go much higher and will a sealed battery suffer any damage?
I also notice that the rectifier case gets very hot.

You could damage the sealed battery for lack of not being able to add water to it.
