Whats involved in removing a head and replacing the divertors(or are they called diflectors)?
Are they located in the head or the block and what do they look like?

I take it you severely overheated the motor? That's about the only reason to replace them. But if they're that bad, cylinder damage has probably occurred. The heads are held on with 10 bolts each. You'll see them around the perimeter. They come off easy and go on easy. The main thing is to have clean surfaces and torque the bolts when you put them back on. Good opportunity to scrape off the carbon too. Diverters (they call them deflectors) are long pieces of rubber tubing laying parallel to the cylinders in the block. Yours has four. :)

Admiral:Thanks for the reply.
The head is overheating but just that one. I am told its deflectors and not salt buildup. Are these deflectors visable when the head is pulled off?
You say 4. Is that 1 deflector per cylinder or 4 per cylinder? Are they still available?
