looking at this boat owner didn't winterize and now both exhaust manifolds are cracked externally don't know if they are internally also pushed freeze plug out of engine below head an right side if you are facing the front of the engine there is water in the oil also what would be best way to start diagnosing to find out if engine is ok or not motor runs no unusual noises and we didn't run more than a minute or so just to be sure it still ran water obviously came out of hole where freeze plug was missing but had just started when we shut it off thanks for any help

I would bet the block is also cracked and water WILL get into the oil. The only cure is to replace the block/engine. Those "Freeze Plugs" are not there to protect the engine, and they usually don't read this thread.

thanks for the info i suspected a broke block but was hoping to get lucky maybe, is there a way to check for that i haven't found any external cracks in the block and i appreciate the info on core plugs is there any way water can get in the oil from the exhuast manifolds besides through the valves and past the rings

Ayuh,....

Drain the cooling system, block off the ports into,+ out of the Block,...
Then pressurize with Air,... You'll hear the leak,.. Then follow the sound....
