Just bought this thing yesterday, kind of fell into my hands so to speak (usually when the best deals do). The boat is in immaculate shape, the only thing that is wrong (which is minor) is one of the clear plastic windows on the cover has a hole in it. The boat has a newly rebuilt 5.0 Merc with an Alpha One Drive that has just been service 100%.

Anyway I didn't really want to get a boat right before winter, but its here and summer couldn't come soon enough. I've had plenty of boats but this one seems to be fairly practical, it is only 20ft long but has a small cuddy and I've heard they are great and stable in the water.

Anybody has any experiences (good or bad) with this style of boat?

Oh yeah I bought the boat and tandem trailer for $2000. :)

No experience with Celebrity. My boat is a 20'3" cuddy with a V-hull. She rides like a dream. Very stable, very smooth. She's got a 205HP 4.3L. Very fuel efficient and suprisingly fast. With 3 adults, 2 children, and a lot of cargo, she does 45mph according to GPS. Speedometer claims 52, but boats have egos and are not above exageration:rolleyes:. I love my boat, and so does my whole family.
Anyway, I never thought I'd see the day when I would congratulate a boat thief;), but conragratulations:D!!! You're very fortunate. Best of luck to you.

PS: The trailer is worth more than what you paid for the whole package. You got a good deal on the trailer. It came with a free boat!!!

Safe and happy boating always!!!

Re: 1989 Celebrity 199 SE Cuddy

Thanks for the responses guys, yeah I agree it was a steal, even though it is painfull to buy a boat right before winter I will be glad come spring summer. The owners are moving to Florida and they were having a hard time selling the boat for close to what it is worth so they went to a dealer where they were offered $2000. They would rather sell it to a friend for that so they asked me about it, I was NOT looking for a boat at all. But for that price I could not pass it up, especially considering it is basically drop in the water and drive ready.

Owner said this boat will do 45+ with 5 people in it, not sure if that is accurate or not but I think the motor is putting out like 230hp or something. Celebrity boats are fairly well built so I have been told from a few boat mechanics.

I just bought near enough the same from origional owner but 215 version with 290 hours and in super shape with only few scratches in gelcoat. I paid 4900 with all water toys. I felt like I got a good buy but yours was a steal. Im trying to get all the teak wood re-oiled and have been spending moola on the extras. have been out once since trial run and love the handling especialy with the trim tab controls.

Welcome to the club! 1989 192SE here! The only thing I notice is that these things are fussy with weight distribution. I'm thinking of getting some smart tabs to cure that though. Can't complain about anything else though.

Here's a pic of mine, pretty similar!
