Thanks for the help on the last one...now for a new question. What fuel/oil mix should I use after disabling the VRO system? Also how do you adjust the timing, or don't you. I've heard a few different things. Thanks for helping me out!! You guys are a gigantic help to the rookies of the marine world!!

Hey, Deeno. Use 50:1 mix; Fresh, lead free 87 octane WITHOUT any alcohol in it and the best oil you can get. Quicksilver, OMC, Pennzoil, etc. A good shop manual will tell you how to make any allowable adjustments. . . probably only throttle/timing linkage adjustment.<br /><br />Bon Voyage.<br />JB

Thanks for your input. That's the mix we used and it smoked quite a bit at first, but seems to be better now. As for the throttle/timing linkage adjustment....I had a guy tell me "when you put in new spark plugs it adjusts itself." So could you recommend a book or manual with info for adjusting? Appreciate replies!! Thanks!!!

Yo, Deeno. Try Clymer Shop manual #B736. Not cheap ($30-$35) but priceless in wisdom. BTW: nothing adjusts itself unless it is computer controlled, and then only part of the time.<br /><br />Good luck.<br />JB

The VRO pump on my 90 V-4 120 hp went south and Evinrude dealer replaced it with an Envinrude FIXED ratio oil pump at 65 to 1. That was what Evenrude recomended. No problems since (approx 200 hr use)<br /><br />------------------<br />alvinmh
