I picked up this motor as a winter project.

I haven't looked through the service manual yet just wanted to get this thing on my stand which I have but the angle is way off. I lowered the trim by releasing the hydraulic screw on the side but even in the lowest setting it's still tilted way forward. It's resting on these two, who look to me hydraulic "stoppers", and I'm not sure how to get these to lower.

Attached is a picture, it's the shiny metal in the middle.

Thanks :)

These are the trim actuators. There is one long tilt cylinder which you have already let down. The trim cylinders need to be let down also. Right at this moment I can't remember the exact procedure to let them down but will try to look it up when I get to my office where my manuals are or it comes back to me.

Does the t/t motor run ?? If it does you can bring those rams all the way in.

At the moment I don't have electricals hooked up. I don't have controls so once I have it nicely on the stand I'll go through the service manual to figure out all the electrical and rig up some switches to control everything.

Find the plug that goes to the tilt motor amd seperate it.----Green and blue wires.---------Use jumper wires to go directly from battery to those wires.-------+ to blue and - to green is up I think.----Reverse the 2 wires to go the other way.

Sounds simple enough, will try that tomorrow.

Thanks

The manual release (when released) should allow those trim cylinders to retract. I would open it more (or remove it), and see if they will retract.

Scratch that, coffee not working yet. On the OMC PTT units, the single tilt cylinder pulls the motor down, retracting the trim cylinders. Hopefully you can get the trim motor working, to make it happen.

Thanks guys, splicing power directly to the trim motor wiring worked nicely and bonus I know it works :)
