Re: 1989 evinrude xp175 low rpms
I noticed you've had this problem since, at least, June of 2007. When you KNOW it's not running as it should, STOP running the outboard until you have put the issue under a microscope and made a valiant effort to correct the problem. Otherwise, be saving for a new powerhead. Better do another compression test and post the results of your findings before starting your troubleshooting process. You might be disappointed in your findings this time around. A service manual will come in very handy if you don't already own one. A model number, posted in this thread, will help others offer more accurate assistance as well. You mentioned in your post that "wot is 2200 rpms and after a few minutes will build rpms and run normal". Define normal? What is the max rpm's at "normal"? If your carbs were rebuilt last year and you have let it sit for several months without properly winterizing, another carb job might be in order. Have you made any adjustments to anything prior to, or after, the problem started. It could be a bad coil....... fouled plugs........ stopped up carb....... bad fuel pump...... broken piston rings..... etc. etc. etc........ See where we're headed here? Take baby steps and narrow down the list. Fist things first......Let's make sure your working with a good powerhead. Do a compression test and post the results of your findings for each individual cylinder......
