1989 Force 125: Carbs drip

Both carbs on my engine have been rebuilt. New gaskets fixed the drips from the bottom of the bowls.

However, they both drip from the barrel now, the lower more than the upper. I assume the floats are misadjusted (though I followed the rebuild kit directions).

So: is this the case? If not, what causes this? How to fix it?

If the needle valve and seats look OK, take a look at the floats. If you have the floats that are made out of the solid black styrofoam like material, then they may not be as buoyant as they should be. After sitting in gasoline for 22 years, they have a tendency to absorb some gasoline and don't float as well. I found a set of brass floats that fixed the same symptoms on my carbs that you are experiencing. Be careful of the newer white plastic replacement floats available out there. The adjustment tab on these floats are plastic. Not sure how you can adjust them. If all else fails, you can adjust your floats just a hair lower to compensate.

Thanks. I'll proceed. They are the styrofoam floats, but they have a brass or bronze bendable tab.
