I have an 1989 50 horsepower force outboard. A couple of weeks ago i got it to crank by cleaning some connections on the starter and battery cables and then found i had to change out the water pump. It now will not crank at all i had it cranking last week by using a jump box because my battery was dead and then switched a jumper cables from a truck and they arked on the side of the boat. What could i have burned up? I replaced the two circuit breakers thinking i fired those. They only other thouhgt that i have is that the wire going to the starter is bad because i can hook power to the solinoid and it will give me the clicking sound like it is good. Sorry for the long post.
thanks

Maybe the starter went out . Connect your jumper cables to ground and directly to the post on the starter . If the starter runs it is probably good.
Just a thought and I hope you get it going.

If you shorted the sloinoid even once to get it to turn over...then I would bet its your issue..
