Hi again:) You guys have helped me so much thus far, thank you. I was running in the Chatahoochee and noticed smoke coming out of the exhaust. Normally, it is just spitting water. This happened in a no wake, it was running smoothe and I was slow going for about 10 minutes. I turned her off and sat awhile, then restarted and she started spitting again with some smoke. The water was very hot to the touch. I was afraid to overheat, so I went back to the ramp.

I read many posts about the thermostat, so I went to look at mine and it is gone. The guy before me must have removed it(which I intended to do). a few days ago I was messing around with the carb setting, could this be something I caused? I was running in shallow water, could I have clogged the intake? Is it the water pump? I just replaced the impeller and it is done right.

I do not have a temp guage, but the leg was hot to the touch....

As always, thanks for the help. I will be a pro force guy shortly thanks to all of you!

Is it still pushing water out the exhaust relief holes? The extra smoke might be from faulty fuel return. These motors do smoke a bit and at times maybe a bit more. I kinda think they should have been called forcing smoke outboards.lololol!!! Anyways a little smoke is not a problem. Now if everyone on the water is looking and saying WOW!!!! Check out that refinery, then you may have bigger problems. Might not hurt to check your carb adjustment again just to be sure. Make sure you mix fuel at
50:1 and use 87 octane gas. There is a product called startron fuel treatment that will help with controlling the affects of ethanol in the fuel. I use at every fill. No thermostat isn't a problem either, but put one in if it makes you feel safer. Make sure it still pees plenty of water out the exhaust relief though.

you will not be 100% acertain you do not have a cooling problem unless you fit a pisser ..tell tail to the top of the cylinder head..I have a similar problem ..water out the upper exhaust but not to the top of the head .. IN my case I am sure this is caused by low pump output as I have run the leg in a bucket driven by a drill. Fit the pisser if it comes out of that your are good to go .

Well, I used compressed air to clean out where the thermostat would have been and I thought I saw a spark near the top plug. Now she will not start. Did I screw up the plugs....or something more expensive????
