Was giving my Force 50 a good once over after another nice day out on the water and noticed that the water inlest screen on the lower unit had a little stick (toothpick sized) sticking out. I pulled it gently and the the entire side of the screen collapsed! Dry rotted! Darn! I looked at the parts list on the mercruiserparts.com site and it shows a screen, but it shows it located near the water pump (35-819228 ). I'm not sure if that is the part I need or if it is another part.
Additionally, will I have to drop the lower unit to replace or is it a snap in item (it sure snapped out easily enough LOL).
Thanks

Also, looking for a trailering rod for this motor. This is a photo from the web of what is should look like, though I haven't actually seen it or know for sure how it is installed (what clips/retainers are required).

Mine has the same rod if you look at the motor mount with the motor tilted up you will see the holes , it goes across the last two on the right and the last 1 on the left. the motor then sits on the middle of the bar. I have no idea where you can find them , I hope somebody does lol

So does your bar lock into the trim holes somehow? As in, a cotter pin and washer on the end or what keeps the rod from just jiggling out (besides the weight of the motor).
Thanks!

BTW, I found the screen and it is the part number I had listed about. You have to just drop the lower unit and replace it. Of course I'm changing the water pump while it's off. Ordered it from Seattle and should have it tomorrow. They had it on the self @ www.sea-way.com Only a few bucks for shipping and they sent it ASAP.

there is a cotter pin that goes into the single end once it is through, this keeps it from falling out. I did see a site selling these, I will try to find it and post it here.

I have the same trailering bar, but wish it held the motor up higher, on some inclines, I still brush the skeg on the pavement,(that sound turns your stomach inside out)
