1989 Force 50

Just bought an 89 Maxum 1700 with a Force 50. It starts and runs pretty decent, but seems kind of underpowered and like it's hogging some gas too. What all kinds of things could cause this?

I'd check fuel, carbs, fuel filter, fuel lines. carburetor may be in need of servicing/rebuild with a nice bath in some carb cleaner. While youre at it, check the compression of the cylinders too. That should atleast get you going in the right direction if not fixing the problem up all together.
