I recently bought a 1989 spectrum 1700 that has this motor on it. I'm new to owning a boat and have a couple of questions. First does anyone know where I can buy a repair manual for this motor and can anyone tell me where I can get a water pump for it I had it out last week and the buzzer went off I'm guessing that's what it was anyhow. And my pump for tilt is leaking my buddy says he can rebuild the hydraulic pump for me does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for it and last would anyone know if I can still get a decal kit for the hood the previous owner took off the HP decal and I'd like to put it back on if I can get one would anyone know where?

The pump/ impeller F433065-2 can be bought here.
Or e-bay and any Mercury dealer.

The decals are NLA but can be reproduced.

The manual can be bought from Mercury.
Or maybe online.
The Clymer or Seloc are available here.
They are a general use and have some good things but generally cover a wide variety and the specifics aren't there.

The tilt pump or cylinder: where's the leak?
Not too hard if you are mechanical.
The actual pump is a different thing.

Look up T@T repairs for Forces and read, read, read.
There's another post on here that has a link to the repairs.
The pump can be destroyed by just removing 1 screw so be careful????
The pump, there isn't much to it and the repairs are to the bottom part of the pump.
The electric motor is just that an electric motor If the water doesn't get in then all it needs is a cleaning.

I've got this same motor on a little bass boat. If you need graphics, I work in a sign shop and made new ones for mine. Of course, I changed the graphic entirely as the 80's we're kind of stuck in less than desirable color schemes...

Yours are "surface gap pugs"
They can last 15 years or more.
Easy to clean, just wipe on your pants.
I had mine in for a LONG time.
They were still good when I changed them, I just felt guilty as they were in there for so long.

They have lasted forever. I changed them once but that was quite a while ago and they still look extremely clean.
