This outboard isn't on the boat but on a stand while the boat is being refinished. I would like to know how to start it without the wiring harness but from the engine terminal strip. I can use a jumper on the starter solenoid. On the Terminal strip the wires are as follows; Start - yellow/red. Tachometer - gray or purple. Stop - black/yellow or white. Choke - yellow/black or green. Overheat - tan or orange. Positive - red/purple or red. Stop 2 - blue/black or blue. Ground - Black. Which terminals do I jumper in order to start? I want to check out the newly installed impeller and set up the carb. Thank you.

Yes you can jump start it with a piece of wire from red/purpule to yellow/red to activate the starter through the solenoid.

At the same time you maybe need to activate the choke either with a jump wire from red/purple to yellow/black or you activate it manually by hand.

To stop it you need a jumper from black/yellow to blue/black (there need to be a jumper at terminal stripe between blue/black and black, it ground out the CD module).

If I were you I would catch up three pushbuttoms (normally open function) and connect these with some pieces of wire to the terminal, then it is much easier to do the control (start, choke and stop) because you will need your both hands when doing it.

Thanks again Nordin! I think that I may be an old wiring harness somewhere in the garage if my memory is correct. I may be advice on wiring up the key switch if it has one.

Thank you Jerry. I found the wiring harness but it was without the ignition switch. I will pick one up, not a bad item to have around as a spare.

I have the same mortor and I’ve replaced the stator,trigger,both coils,and the Cdi box and now I have spark on both cylinders but the motor will not crank. I feel like I have a wire wrong. I have went over the manual over and over again. I’m waiting on a new ignition switch to come in just to rule that out. If any one can help me that would be great. I’ve redone the entire boat carpet,wood,everything and now the durn thing won’t run. It was running on one cylinder when I got it and I was not getting any spark on on the top cylinder. Now I have fire on both cylinders and it won’t run.

They don't like it when someone hijacks a thread.

Check the flywheel for a sheared key.
If you have spark?? then the key switch isn't the problem.

You sure the fuel's going through?

A quick shot of starting fluid and see if it fires.
Don't overdo the SF as it can strip the protective oil from the moving parts.
