has spark, but starts some of the time.shop says may have to replace entire electrical system.$3000.00 bill.does anyone have a similar situation or answer, thanks
I have an 89 125 hp force myself. You can replace all the electrical yourself for much less that that. Might be another problem for not starting all time. If it does start than I'd say electrical does work. Getting a repair book will help a lot. You can check compression pretty easily and if you have timing light check if spark is getting to all the plugs. You can switch coils around yourself to determine if one is bad. Could be bad gas too or not getting enough gas or too much. I had one spark not firing on mine and switch coils around and got no difference. I than replaced the power pack with another one I had as spare and that solved the problem. One power pack controls #1 & 2 cylinders and other power pack controls #3 & 4 cylinders. The repair manual will help a lot. Good luck
Sounds like he doesn't really want to work on it and wants to just replace everything to be sure.It probably won't run then either.
At #3000 he's screwin you!!!
