I have a 1989 four winns liberator 211 with an OMC 460. Ive been getting an alarm when I get up on plane and start to give more throttle. when the buzzer sounds I back off the throttle a bit and the alarm goes off. Ive found some info on this and it says it could possible be a fuel restriction, ive changed filters and checked all my fuel lines and don't seem to have a fuel restriction. If anyone has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks! 00707_gppY8aghzVD_600x450.jpg

Sure is a pretty lookin' engine ... Welcome aboard Luke.

That's not an overheating alarm is it? Operating temp is all good?

WOW, pretty 'clean' 460!!

Hmmm....A 211 Liberator............Hey, I have one of those!

Welcome aboard!

Well, most of the alarm systems use a buzzer connected to 12vDC anytime the key is on. Then they use grounding switches that close when the engine gets too hot or the oil pressure decreases below a preset level.

My 1987 211 Liberator had no alarm system at all when I had the 460 in mine and I haven't hooked up one with my current engine.

I don't know what you would alarm other than temp or oil pressure with your engine. If someone added it then they could have added any number of things that would sound the alarm. (bilge pump auto-running comes to mind)

If you have a 1989 OMC OEM manual you might be able to see how OMC set up the alarm (if there is one)

Your problem might be one of the switches but you'll have to disconnect them one at a time to find the one that is grounding.

Otherwise, an errant alarm (assuming it's not really oil or temp) is usually a frayed wire touching ground some place since its one wire connected to the sensors(switches)

btw, Do you come out of the hole kinda slowly and accelerate pretty good once on plane? My 211 was a REAL dog outta the hole when I had the 460.

Regards,

Rick

And yours looks a LOT like mine!!
