HELP HELP HELP PLEASE I have a 1989 Bayliner Capri With an Ldrive US Marine/Force 120 hp unit. I have had it out twice now and both times it has burned thru the Exhaust Bellow between the exhaust manifold and the bulkhead fitting that goes thru the hull and to the lower Unit aS YOU CAN IMAGINE WATER RUSHES IN THRU A 3 1/2" HOLE IN THE HULL THAT THIS CONNECTS TO FASTER THAN THE BILGE CAN KEEP UP UNLESS I RUN THE ENGINE FULL OUT . tHIS LAST TIME OUT THE STEERING LINKAGE ALSO CAME APART AND THE BOLT FELL DOWN INTO THE BILGE FILLED WITH WATER. Exciting to say the least.

Anyone know why it is doing this ????

Re: 1989 Ldrive burning thru exhaust hose & Bellows

Did you ever figure this out? I had this happen last weekend and I just got it back from the repair shop. Those dummies removed the two hoses that go to the exhaust manifold and plugged the holes and just left the one hose running from the powerhead to the lower unit exhaust. So I had to buy new elbow fittings and new hose. Removed the two (plugs) and put the elbows back on.

I would look to see if you have good water flow into the exhaust manifold plate.
