Just replaced the fuel pump, the old one had a hole the size of a dime,
replaced everything back to the way it was and it will not hold prime the motor will run about 1000 yards.

main fuel line going from the pump to the motor was not clamped off.
when i primed the bulb and touched it fuel sprayed out.

Tightend them down but have not had a chance to run it yet.

think thats the problem>?

If it wasn't losing prime before the rebuild. Yes

Maybe something went wrong during the fuel pump rebuild. You can get a compound meter pretty cheap to check the fuel pump.
