1989 mercruiser 3.0 litre

hi, I’m having a difficult time figuring out what type of oil goes into the white container on the top/side of the engine. Anyone who can help me out it would be appreciated.

I have no idea on an '89. Interesting..... Is not attached to a hydraulic pump is it, setting off to the side of the engine?

only plastic containers I have seen are outdrive res or trim/tilt pump
