1989 OMC Cobra 3.0 possible engine swap

I possibly may have to remove my OMC 3.0 302AMRMED out of my fourwinns and was wondering if anyone knew if a OMC 6 cylinder would bolt in its place instead of replacing with the same engine. Any advice on this topic would be great.

Ayuh,... It ain't to feasible to do that...

You'd need to swap out the outdrive, as yer's is the Wrong gear ratio...

You'd also have to cut out the existin' motor mount, 'n build new motor mounts to meet the V-motor....

Yer motorbox is probably to small too....

Thanks Bond-o. I was kind of thinking it would probably be more economical to stay with the 3.0. do you know any places to get just the bottom end for a 1989 3.0?

Ayuh,... I'm fresh outa GM I4s,....

If ya can't find an ole rotten boat with a runnin' 3.0l motor, Cheap, on craigslist, there's always New or Reman'ed long blocks...
