I'm looking at this boat right now for $2,000. 16ft, 40 horse yamaha, 2 livewells, bow mount, 2 batteries. The guy sent me pictures on my phone but they don't transer well so I don't have a pic. for you guys. Question is, is that a good price? I know prices vary from state to state. Been looking for a bass boat for a couple years and haven't found anything under $3000. Also, with a 16ft glass boat and a 40horse 2 stroke, what kind of speeds am I looking at?

Well 30ish low 30's for speed. A 15-16'boat with an 85 hp will deliver high 30's and maybe 40 at times.

What year is the boat? What's the history? If your looking at that catagory of bass fishing I would suggest that you seek out aluminum. It's light and has a somwhat lower maintenence ahead. The older "tracker" aluminum bass boats are okay but usually need new wood decking.

I know the market will become better for the buyer this year.

For the 2K that he is asking....... I would look it over real close. Check the trailer too. Tires bearings..... How old are the batteries? Do the livewell pumps work? How's the steering?...... water pump impellar. almost everything is a simple DIY fix/repair but it sure adds up!

It's a 1989. As far as history, I'm not sure, he just bought a newer boat. I already have a 15ft aluminum boat I use for duck hunting. I talked to the guy for a while and found that the floor is solid, and everything works great. The only thing wrong is the trim motor was going out and is getting a new one installed today. As far as the other questions you and I have, I will find out tomorrow for a test run. Unfortunately, I have to drive 3 hours to check it out.

AN investment in a test run is PRICELESS!! :)

Sounds good but a water test is a great idea.

well, boat it a no go. The guy never called me back after he was going to replace the trim motor. Never understood why people don't give you a courtesy call ie..didn't get to it, sold it, had something come up..... Oh well, off to the next one.

Welcome to iboats!

Please start a new thread in the future. Boat weight limits are posted on the data plates located in each boat.
