I?m looking for help from anyone with experience with Suzuki outboards, specifically a 1989 9.9hp. I?ve worked a lot on Johnson/Evinrude outboards, but this Suzuki is?different.
I?m relatively sure I know what the problem is...Low fuel pressure. The outboard starts and idles well but stalls out after running it fast after about 10 seconds. And if I keep priming the fuel bulb, it will keep running well.
So, I figure it?s the fuel pump, right? Well, maybe. Except that I don?t think this outboard even has a fuel pump. I guess that?s the first question I need answered. What pumps the fuel into the carb?
So, how would you go about troubleshooting this? What could it be? All comments are welcome.
