1989 Tournament TX 17 question

I am considering buying a 1989 TX 17 with an engine and hull that appears to be in good condition. Here is the description:

"Nice fishing platform, comes with 70HP Evinrude engine, trailer with spare tire. New Trolling motor. May need to update fish finders. It also has a cover and livewell. Recently serviced and running great. Floor has some rot, but is currently usable and easy to replace."

My question is if the floor does have some rot, will this be a major project? Easily fixable? Can i just replace the floor panel and I am all set?

I can get this boat for $3,000. Would it be worth it? I am a first time boat buyer and want to make sure that I am buying a decent boat.

IMHO that is to much for a boat that may need a new deck installed. Did you look on NADA for the used value of the boat? When I looked it said $2000 for average retail. Good luck I would keep looking though. Remember this is just my opinion though.

I bought an 1989 TX 17 about 3 yrs ago for $600. The front deck was rotten and the motor did not run. You should be able to find a good used boat with no floor rot for that amount.

I have a 1989 TX 17...

that boat is rated for a 60 horse motor and be pretty scary to handle at speed with a 70 horse...as well as I would worry about the boat being beat to death on the inside from the wear and tear of the extra weight and the beating from the oversized motor. I personally feel 60 horse was TOO MUCH for these boats...they just are not built well enough.

it is not worth $3000...nowhere near...
you will likely have rotten deck issues...electrical problems ( the fuse panels they put in those boats are the cheapest pieces of garbage I have ever seen )...check the console for cracks and seperation between the top part and the metal bottom...and I will bet a dime to a dollar that if it has original gauges at least half of them will not work anymore...also you will need to replace the float oil sensor in the oil tank if it is original. They had a problem with the originals filling with oil and getting saturated and setting off the oil alarm.
