Hello everyone,

I am finally going to take my boat out to the river tommorow with my next door neighbor he has a poontoon boat. We are both taking our boats out, since I am new to the area I didn't want to go to unfamiliar waters. Anyway, I have a question? I was running my motor on the muffs(garden Hose) last weekend. Before I ran the motor I put fresh 87 octane gas/boat TCW-3 oil and 16 ounces/1 Pint of Sea Foam in with the gas. I have a 10 or 11 gallon gas tank. After I ran the motor (Which ran fine) I checked the plugs and they looked pretty clean but they where wet and smelled like gas. There was no carbon on all the plugs is this normal with me running 16 ounces of Sea Foam in a ten gallon fuel tank for 10 to 15 minutes?

Running to lean on the oil Bubba. The mix is 50:1. This means 16oz oil to 6gal of gas. Don't run it without the proper oil mix.....could be a short trip to the river.

I am sorry I was unclear of what I said. I used 34 ounces of TCW-3 Super Tech Wal-Mart oil with the 16 ounces of Sea Foam in a ten gallon fuel tank. I would never run the motor without the correct oil ratio. I was just wondering about the plugs because this is the first time I have ran Sea Foam in the engine since purchasing the boat last year. Will The Sea Foam clean the plugs up clean like I said in this thread?

Bubba
You used enough sea foam to help clean ejectors or carbs wichever one you have but not enough to decarb your engine if that is what you were trying to do. As far as your plugs go some others at this site could tell you better than me but each time I take mine out to check they always seem to be a little wet with gas and oil mix.Do not make the mistake of sub-ing sea foam for oil the sea foam should be in addition to the correct amount of oil and is a very good cleaning agent for your engine. I have started using it everytime I fill up with gas.

Big Bubba, 34ozs oil in 11 gallon tank is about 40:1...a bit rich, but better than lean on oil.
Careful with the seafoam...too much will eat fuel lines. 10-12ozs in 20 gallons of fuel will do a good job on cleaning without worry of fuel line degradation.
I run 10-12 ozs in an 18 gal tank, and plugged all of my recirc valves with black goo...found out the seafoam was eating the line from the inside out, but mine set with fuel in it for a few weeks, and that added the time needed for it to eat the line.
