Hello again,

I have a question for everyone. I ordered a Stingray Hydrofoil Stabilizer due to my boats bow being higher than the stern during plane out. My question is are these Stabilizers any good, I guess I am too late to ask since I already got it by UPS today. I was just wondering if there are a waiste of money. Another question when I drill the holes in my cavitation plate to install the stabilizer will this create any leaks to the lower unit assembly. I will put in on according to the manufactures instructions. I own a 1989 Chapparral 162 XL fish/ski boat 15.5 footer with a 1989 Evinrude 88 SPL V-4 model E88MSLCER outboard.

It won't cause a leak into your lower unit. You will be drilling into the cavitation plate.

I don't like those things. I had one on a boat that hit a stump(would have missed it if I didnt have the stingray on) the broke part of the cavitation plate.

I bought another motor that had one on it. I didn't check how it was mounted, the previous owner had broken most of the cavitation plate off and had it installed with washers sandwiched on the nubs.

I see a lot of them, so there must be success stories out there.

A lot of people swear by smart tabs. I have no experience with them, they do seem like a logical solution though.

If it run's below the surface while on plane, that is a lot of drag.
